Choosing an Operating System

Sierra Chart recommends Windows no later than version Windows 7, although clearly many users use Windows 10 without issue. Some Sierra Chart users find programs for Linux that allows Windows programs to run actually provide speed improvements, such as Wine. For a beginner user remaining on Windows may prove to be sufficient, but some users may seek the potential improvements on running Sierra Chart within a Linux OS.

Sierra Chart is not currently available on Mac, but can be run with programs such as Parallels.

Tip: Ensure your operating system updates do not interfere with trading hours.
