Charts Introduction

Sierra Chart users can truly customize charts with very little that can’t be done. Charts are within Chartbook data files which are stored in the Sierra Chart\Data folder. These files instruct Sierra how to layout the chart and data.

By default the visuals and navigation of charts are typically far from the needs of the user. In this guide, we’ll make some changes to get the charts how we want them.

Charts are either:

A) Intraday, which downloads more data and has a wide range of bar period selections available

B) Historic: Which is purely 1 day time frame per bar, containing less data.

Terminology:

Charts, Graphs: The window and location in which data is displayed

Chartbooks: Is a workspace composed of 1 or more charts.

Data Folder: Is the main folder to store various chartbooks, spreadsheets, and other data files. Is it located in the Sierra Chart folder

Tip: Remember, charts are stored within chartbook files. These are located in the Sierra Chart/Data folder, extension ending in .CHT
